Gender Stereotyping of Robotic Systems in Eldercare: An Exploratory Analysis of Ethical Problems and Possible Solutions

Abstract Socio psychological studies show that gender stereotypes play an important role in human-robot interaction. However, they may have various morally problematic implications and consequences need ethical consideration, especially a sensitive field like eldercare. Against this backdrop, we conduct exploratory analysis of moral issues stereotyping robotics for The leading question is what problems conflicts can arise from care robots older people how should deal with them. We first provide overview on the state empirical research regarding interaction special people. Starting principlist approach, then map possible regard to common principles autonomy, care, justice. subsequently consider solutions development implementation acceptable eldercare, focusing three different strategies: explanation, neutralization, queering robots.
